Situated in Villanova i la Geltrú, just south of the popular beach resort of Sitges, this remarkable villa is a rare example of "Neo Mudejar” architecture, an exotic blend of Moorish, Hispanic and Renaissance styles famous for its elaborate colour and detail. Built over 120 years ago, the house and grounds have been restored to their original style but with all modern comforts now included to make this a truly perfect retreat. The gardens are as stunning as the house itself, as the villa sits in a walled enclosure of 2 hectares of land with a wide variety of plants and trees, a large swimming pool (12m by 7m heated by solar panels and equipped with tables, chairs and sun loungers), a tennis court, an ornate fish pond, a children's play park and a large BBQ area. There are changing rooms and showers by the pool and a small gymnasium. There is even parking for 50 vehicles.
The main villa is set on 3 floors (there is a lift as well as the ornate staircase) with 9 distinctive bedrooms and suites, a music room, a bar/salon, a library, games room, dining room and a large, fully equipped kitchen. There are 4 double bedrooms on the second floor, all en-suite, three with jacuzzi baths, and the master bedroom has a private reception room and a satelite TV and music system by Bang and Olufsen. On the first floor there are a further 4 double bedrooms, all of which have access to private terraces with sofas, and are all en-suite, again 3 of these with jacuzzi baths. The fourth bedroom is more compact than the others and has a shower only in the bathroom. The ninth bedroom is on the ground floor with an en suite bathroom with a shower.
On the ground floor there is the breathtaking entrance hall, the extensive salon and bar and a large games room with a pool table, chess and music system. There is a large dining room, the kitchen which has all possible amenities (including 2 dishwashers), a library with internet access, the covered porch and seating areas for dining al fresco, and a even a private chapel. In total there are 9 double bedrooms to sleep 20 people in the maximum of comfort. Possibilities exist of extra sleeping arrangements for small children if required.

The town of Villanova i la Geltrú is less famous than its neighbour Sitges, but has charm enough of its own with its old town centre and modernist buildings, as well as having two beach areas either side of the Port. Having Sitges so close is an advantage of course - you can be there in 10 minutes driving or even enjoy the walk between the towns (about an hour and a half), the whole stretch being along the sea front. There is a train station in the town which connects you direct to Barcelona for day trips (this also stops in Sitges) and there are a whole range of restaurants and bars here and of course lots more in Sitges, which is itself somewhat famous for its nightlife and particularly its lively gay culture. This manifests itself in an exhuberant explosion in the famous Carnival of Sitges, held early each year (check www.sitgestur.com for dates)
